0250    Hyperion 2.0

Hyperion originally comes from Greek mythology and is the son of the sun and light god Helios. It is often used in contemporary philosophy as an analogy to the new and modern media comparatively, and in technology it can also be indicative of a principle of the hybrid that is characteristic of digital technologies that operate and function at the speed of light. The Corona pandemic crisis has significantly accelerated the process of digitalization in all areas of our lives. Thus, the light-speed cult of digital media has also found its way into politics and crystallized the need for a new form of administration – a Federal Ministry for Digitalization.

Hyperion 2.0 is a special hybrid building that combines different materials and constructions, as well as the possibilities of digital technologies for an energy-efficient, environmentally conscious and sustainable building architecture to “smart building” in “low-tech”. Hyperion 2.0 is a cloud, more specifically a cumulonimbus, an anvil cloud – electrostatic, energetic and anvil-shaped. The anvil is probably one of the most robust forms and forms the core in the building interior of Hyperion 2.0. It is intentionally complex in its form language and massive in its materiality. Due to its complexity, it results in an excellent building mass heat accumulator for a passive energy balance according to the phase change principle, favored by its extra-long geometry, which also allows a light control system for better and more efficient daylight utilization for solar thermal energy.

As a result of its robustness, in addition to its function as a battery, it also offers versatile possibilities for accommodating ancillary and expansion rooms. In contrast, the external appearance of Hyperion 2.0 is quite complementary – simple, cubic and self-sufficient. Combining “low-tech” and “smart-tech” with energy-efficient construction, environmentally conscious and sustainable architecture are the criteria for the design of Hyperion 2.0.
